Lincoln High School PTSA Speaker Series: The Mask You Live In

Hoover families: Please consider the following event hosted by the Lincoln High School PTSA.

Note: Please review the following to determine if this film is appropriate for your family members. Here is guidance from the film makers’ FAQ:  “What ages is the film appropriate for? The full-length feature deals with difficult topics in a frank manner. As a result, we recommend the film for a 16+ audience although we do not yet have an official age rating from MPAA or a TV Parental Guideline.”

Parents and School staff are particularly encouraged to attend.

Lincoln High School’s PTSA is hosting a screening of the movie The Mask You Live In” followed by a panel discussion. Parents and students are invited to this free event.

Where: Lincoln High School, Lincoln Media Center, 555 Dana Avenue, San Jose, 95126
When: Monday, September 21st at 7pm

The Mask You Live In follows young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America’s narrow definition of masculinity. Written, produced and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the film premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2015.

Sell or buy at the Flea Market Fundraiser: Saturday September 26

flea market graphicLincoln High School PTSA, Hoover Middle School PTSA and Trace Elementary PTO are hosting a Flea Market on Saturday September 26th, 8AM-2PM.

Sellers: Spaces are on sale now for $20. Sellers keep all proceeds from their sales. The $20 space fee will be used to support the schools. Here is your chance to: (1) clean out those garages, attics and closets, (2) earn money and (3) support your neighborhood schools!  Hoover supporters: fill out the information at the bottom of the attached flyer and bring with payment to the Hoover Office. Shoppers: Please come to the flea market for some great deals while supporting the neighborhood schools.

Back To School Night Tonight

Back to school night at Hoover Middle School is tonight, Wed August 26th. Be sure to attend, this is a great opportunity to meet your student’s teachers.  The official start is 6:30PM, but please come early and visit the PTSA table. Also Performing Arts Boosters, After Class Enrichment, THINK Together, EMQ and Breakthrough Silicon valley will be present to answer you questions.

At the PTSA table tonight you can learn about the PTSA and become a member.  If you are already a member we will be handing out PTSA membership cards. Our table will be staffed by PTSA volunteers from 6PM to the official start of Back To School Night at 6:30PM.

PTSA (Parent, Teacher & Student Association) General Meeting is Wednesday, August 19th

Please join us at the PTSA General Meeting on Wednesday, August 19th.

The PTSA general meetings are held in the Media Center (Library) in the main Hoover building. The meetings start at 7:00PM.  Please join us to hear what is going on at Hoover Middle School and make a difference!

Schedule Pick-up Days

Schedule Pick-up days are this week, Monday through Wednesday from 8AM to 1PM on Hoover Middle School campus.  There is a separate day for each grade.

  • Monday August 3rd for 6th Grade
  • Tuesday August 4th for 7th Grade
  • Wednesday August 5th for 8th Grade

Representatives from the PTSA will be present each day. Please stop by the PTSA table, and we can answer your questions about the PTSA and sign up members.

Hoover PTSA Welcomes New Families at Summer Bridges

Representatives from the PTSA will be present at the Tuesday July 28 and Wednesday July 29 Summer Bridges events for new Hoover families.  We can answer your questions about the PTSA and sign up new members. We look forward to meeting some new faces and welcoming you to Hoover Middle School!

Volunteers and Donations needed for 8th Grade Dance

Volunteers and donations are needed to help make the 8th Grade Dance a wonderful and memorable experience for our students ending their final year at Hoover Middle School.

Please consider volunteering time and donating items for the dance.

PTSA and 8th Grade Dance Meetings on Wednesday April 22nd

Thank you Hoover families for your continued support! Please plan to join your PTSA team this Wednesday at 6:30 in the library. We have the opportunity provide input concerning the spending of Measure H funds at Hoover. The district has proportioned over $260,000 for our school. There will be open discussion for parents to share their perspective on what projects could have the biggest impact on student success. We will also share great plans for the upcoming May 2nd Arts on the Green open house and festival. We truly value your participation.
Finally, as a bonus, If you’d like to be part of the 8th grade promotion dance planning, join us a half-hour early for discussion and planning, 6:00 in the library! Otherwise, we’ll see you this Wednesday at 6:30 for a terrific meeting.
